We love to do what we like .We can easily pursue that .We can even flourish in that .But the question of success often mars the enjoyment of that interest. It is because we always like to put ourselves into competition .We like to dominate others through skills .It is a sort of power play. This mentality questions us if we are successful in life or whatever we are doing .We can not live a simple life and we invite complexity by comparing ourselves with others .
If we simply pursue any art form or any hobby , only for the sake of our love for that, we can continue to practice it as it is .As we love it with regular practice we are definitely going to achieve skill in that field of study . There is simple joy in the process of learning as it interests the individual .We do that for the joy that the mind feels by doing it .For that joy we want to do that work again and thus our interest is created and we stick to that hobby or in that learning procedure .In such a process an individual is under no pressure. Whether one is skillful in that art form or not does not matter .Even if one becomes skilled in that field of art that matters very little .It is a complete emotional level .
On the other hand when an individual puts himself or any of his skills into test then the question of success comes .When we are skilled at any work we demand or expect some recognition from others .Society people may be divided into a few types again .There could be at least three categories - a)those who like that skill b)those who does not like that skill and criticize c) those who are indifferent .Those who like will continue to inspire the creative person .Those who criticize will dissect that art or the skill and throw the challenge to the person who never faced such things before during his process of learning that skill .The third category of people of society simply watch or observe without comment .Under this circumstance the artist develops an intellectual level of understanding his skills .He under goes a transformation .What was once a pure emotional enjoyment now mixed up with intellect and he questions himself - 'Am I successful ?'
In every one's life in some time or other we have faced such a situation .If you are in such situation how would you interpret it ? To my mind that person would perhaps consider the view of the criticism of the second category the most and there by take the first wrong step .Criticism is new to him so he will automatically be attracted to it .He will try to improve his skill to avoid the criticism. But what is improvement ? Shall we call it improvement to satisfy the critics ? Does criticism always lead us to betterment ? His advanced skill management if it may be called so , might create further criticism . Criticism is always based on individual judgement .It can define just an aspect of that creation only .It defines things in comparative terms .So it is relative .
It would be wiser if an individual or a creative person can go simply with his creation .One need not be bothered about recognition and fame .One should not compare himself with others .One must consider his creation or oneself as Unique .One should not be judgemental in his skill or creative work .One must not work to pursue success .He does not need to prove himself or his creative work or skill to others .It is automatically recognized .When an individual becomes master of any art his work goes beyond his Time .Any achievement which wins over Time is Successful.
